Nicola has enjoyed drawing and painting from an early age, and now combines a busy career as a musician with time to devote to painting. A member of the Kirby Bellars Group of Artists since 2005, she is drawn especially to landscape subjects, working in a range of media, which are often combined in a single painting.
Nicola has exhibited around the country, including the Morven Gallery in the Outer Hebrides, the most north-westerly gallery in the British Isles. In 2008 she was was shortlisted in the Artist of the Year competition run by the Society of All Artists. She also has an interest in photography, and in 2011 was winner of the Coast magazine annual photography competition.
Her subject matter is mostly landscapes, especially coastal scenes, executed with a strong sense of individuality. Contemporary treatment of traditional subjects is a recurring theme, with adventurous use of materials and an emphasis on texture and colour. Nicola also enjoys equestrian themes, and is a member of the Society of Equestrian Artists.
