Preview night  - May 2nd 2008

The 27th annual exhibition got off to a great start with a busy preview night, with numbers of visitors and sales far exceeding last year.  In his opening remarks David Weston commented on the very high standard achieved this year, and after some deliberation awarded his Cup to Derek Wright for his finely worked pencil drawings of Venetian palaces, and his Prize for best panel to Judy Buerling for her multi-image paintings on a Greek theme.

Comments from visitors

As always we were delighted to welcome many visitors to the exhibition, some regulars, some for the first time.  Visitor numbers were high - even residents of Kirby Bellars, by now accustomed to the extra traffic and parking on exhibition weekend, commented on how busy the exhibition was.  Many people were kind enough to leave comments in our visitors' book - here are a selection:

The exhibition

Exhibits are selected by president David Weston from the best of the work produced each year by the group.  Each member can put forward up to five works.  Only members can exhibit.

The standard is consistently high from one year to the next as it is a major event in the members' calendar, many plan their painting year around this one event as a chance to showcase their best work.

Visitors can therefore be assured that they will see work of the highest quality in a range of styles and media.  Many make the trip annually to make a purchase or to browse.
